Mechanical tacho charts will be around for years.
- Digital tachographs, when legal, will rarely be fitted retrospectively (other than for failure).
- Penetration of the current UK fleet may be less than 10% a year = to new-vehicle replacement rate.
- No one knows when digital tachographs will be legal and there are many unresolved security and
operational issues.
Transition
- To be useful, tacho digital data will need integration with mechanical tacho chart data
- The integration will need a single analysis process.
- TruTac will provide this service to its clients with a seamless Transition.
- TruTac is already 'geared up' for the introduction of digital tachographs.
Patchy Alternatives:
While many in-cab electronic systems offer similar information they
are:-
- More expensive - at any cost, they are an extra cost to the tacho chart legal minimum
- Not on every vehicle - especially if spot hired during busy periods.
- Not mandatory - not legally required to be present or available and certified accurate.
