X-Ray vision for TruTac software users

X-Ray Transport Management Services Ltd, the Colchester-based commercial transport consultants, have seen a reduction in driver infringements and an increase in analysis management since their customers signed-up for TruTac’s compliance control software.

Of X-Ray’s 500-plus clients in the UK, 75 are now using TruTac’s tachograph analysis and fleet control systems and according to Managing Director, Ray Baker, 5 – 6 new customers are coming on board every week.

“We have used other analysis systems,” explains Ray “but frankly they fell short of the mark, so in April 2017 we started using TruTac and the difference in ease-of-use and transparent analysis was immediately apparent.”

Software modules such as the TruChecks app, enable remote defect reporting for drivers when completing daily walk-round checks. This information is immediately downloaded to the system, thereby enabling any defects to be recorded and dealt with. Furthermore, all records are available for any subsequent DVSA inspections or audits.

According to X-Ray, the most common reason for operators to be penalised is through ‘Failure to notify’ – whereby operators fail to inform the Traffic Commissioner regarding changes in management, maintenance schedules, convictions etc. After this, the second biggest operator misdemeanour is failing to accurately or regularly report vehicle defects.

“This accounts for around 60%,” adds Ray “but with the TruChecks remote defect reporting operators are seeing a significant reduction in this area. We attend and assist operators called to public enquiries on a regular basis and I’m pleased to say we rarely see any operators who are using TruTac’s software in front of a Traffic Commissioner.”

The X-Ray team, comprising a group of national field consultants and an in-house department of special advisors, provide bespoke courses to a wide variety of transport operators including OCR Transport Management, Operators and Transport Managers refresher courses, Drivers CPC in Emergency First Aid at Work, Drivers Hours and Tachographs, Daily Walkaround checks and defect reporting, Fire Awareness/Marshall, COSHH, Risk Assessment and Manual Handling.

“Our job” concludes Ray, “is to provide professional guidance and advice to operators big and small, to help them keep well within current rules and regulations. Certainly, the software systems designed by TruTac go a long way to making this possible and enable transport operators to easily control their own compliance requirements.”

Ray Baker personally represents numerous operators who are called to public inquiry. His specialist knowledge in providing the Traffic Commissioner with an independent audit and action plan saves a great many businesses from losing their Vehicle Operator Licence.
